I have over thirty years of accounting, auditing and tax experience in the Washington metropolitan area as well as internationally in London, England. For six years, I was a tax and accounting manager at a prestigious firm in historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. In 1995, I decided to pursue my calling as an entrepreneur and ventured out on my own to establish my firm, Shafi and Company. Since then, my practice continues to grow as word spreads about my firm's high reputation for quality service at a reasonable cost. As a guest speaker on various news channels and public and national television, I often provide perspective on emerging tax issues and financial matters.

I truly believe in building strong ties with the community. To me, this means giving my time and effort to worthwhile causes as an active participant in local charitable and educational institutions. I also serve as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation to prepare the next generation of financial planners, accountants, tax preparers, CPAs, and auditors. As a member of a local Graduate Studies Oversight Committee, I work closely with local businesses and match distinct professional opportunities with the goals of our current and potential students.
